IMG 8182 Festive and Business Opportunities in Beijing and LyonThe Chinese employees, the students of the school and the companies working in partnership with ECEMA celebrated the Chinese New Year and had the opportunity to network with the participants.

 

 


IMG 8209 Festive and Business Opportunities in Beijing and LyonThe meeting started with the presentation of Legreener local company, specialized in organic and quality wines. It was followed by a wine tasting, a Chinese buffet and tea tasting.

 

 

Then, UPCL and Lyon Culture Land presented the festive and business opportunities between Beijing and Lyon.
Beijing and Lyon have many festive events in common

 

1.    New Year Eve in Beijing and Lyon

•    especially in the Fourvière basilica and Saint-Jean cathedral where the local people can attend the mass
•    Christmas markets in Place Carnot, in and outside Lyon: many wooden chalets selling arts and crafts from the Rhône-Alps region and local cuisine. The visitors can also buy the traditional handmade santons (Nativity figurines).

•    About 4 million visitors can admire the modern as well as the traditional lights shows to inaugurate the Immaculate Conception every 8th December.

•    Lyon’s light planning and Urban lighting play a key role in the international development of Lyon.
•    70 light shows in the city
•    Over 15, 000 people attended the opening show of Lyon’s Festival of lights in the square Bellecour in 2010
•    Millions of people attended the 4-day event
•    37% of foreign visitors
•    Most of the artists and students are talented and very popular designers, architects, video makers, enlighteners and multimedia artists.
•    International artist Marie-Jeanne Gauthé is in charge of showing original photos on the square des Terreaux. She created the video shows for the opening of the Chinese year in France.
•    The city of Lyon created LUCI (Lighting Urban Community International), a network of over 60 cities world-wide that are convinced that lighting plays an essential role in urban, economic and social development.
Light more, consume less is the new motto of Lyon city: the Festival of Lights consumes only 0.1% of the city’s annual lighting energy.
•    The use of public transport like buses or the high-speed train from Saint-Exupéry airport with 8 million passengers in 2010.

3.  The Chinese lovers celebrate their love on 7 July whereas the Saint Valentine is celebrated on 14 February in France
Lyon has always been a romantic city where you can spend the weekend in a little Italy in the Renaissance part of Vieux Lyon and in other original and very romantic places such as the Cour des Loges, a luxury hotel in a Renaissance building in Vieux-Lyon.

On 14 July France celebrates the French revolution with firework displays from the most popular places of Lyon : Croix-Rousse, Lyon presqu’île, Vieux Lyon, Fourvière. The local people and the tourists like attending the event, another way to see Lyon by night in a festive and friendly atmosphere.
Lyon is also very popular for its wines and its medieval history.

People taste Beaujolais Nouveau in the caves of the winegrowers while enjoying the traditional menus of the region in the villages or in the “bouchons” Lyonnais.
Beaujolais Nouveau is usually served with a platter of pork sausages and meat , hot sausage with lentils, rooster in red wine sauce, goat’s cheeses, pears in spiced red wine…
Many painters and art designers from Lyon painted frescoes about Beaujolais Nouveau in Lyon as it is really part of the local culture in Lyon.

Lyon has really become a lively international city that offers:

•    A network of public transport: 2 main railways stations – the Lyon Perrache and the Lyon Part-Dieu. Its open transit system includes buses, trams and also trains. The city’s bus network comprises of trolleybuses too. It also offers a bicycle service to small streets and alleyways that’s inexpensive.
•    Modern hospitals, universities and prestigious schools
•    Very good living conditions usually less expensive than in Paris: accommodation, doctors, offices, green parks…, a cultural life with over 5.6 million visitors in 2010 (museums, cinema and music festivals…)
