French Christmas markets are very popular, especially the traditional markets in Strasbourg and Lille which is very famous with the British because of the European link.
Of course, every town in France celebrates this event in a very festive atmosphere.
The most popular Christmas market in Lyon, located in Place Carnot in front of the Perrache railway station, has many wooden chalets selling arts and crafts from the Rhône-Alps region and local cuisine. The visitors can also buy the traditional handmade santons (Nativity figurines).
However, many other Christmas markets are held around Lyon and some of them are really traditional since they are located in small villages where the visitors can listen to Christmas carols and Christmas concerts in churches.
The Christmas market in La Tour de Salvagny is held from Saturday 5 December to Sunday 6 December, 9 am-7pm. There are free Christmas shows and carols, Christmas tales for children in Father Christmas’s village, a covered restaurant that offers spiced hot wine, Christmas beer, Tartiflette (French potatoes with bacon and cheese), Couscous, sausages, hot dog and potato chips, pancakes…
