The Tale of the City of Lights – V

Iris had just finished her incredible story. Thomas, her uncle, began to talk to her in a very mysterious way,

Don’t you know poor soul, that tasting flavors are devil creatures that corrupt our world. We should be ashamed of tasting and savoring saucisson brioché,cervelle de canut, quenelles lyonnaises and tarte praline. They say we should eat a wide range of food to be healthy! Rubbish! Those are devil ideas as devil flavors pollute our soul! We shouldn’t celebrate the Beujolais Nouveau! We shouldn’t watch the magic lights shows during the Festival of Lights. Lyon has become the City of Darkness to attract more and more tourists, to make money and give our soul to the Devil!

While he was uttering his terrible words, Iris realized that he looked like an insane man (il avait l’air d’un fou). He was frothing at the mouth (il bavait) like a mad dog when he suddenly seized poor Mr Bean and squashed him in his hands.
Mr Carrot and her had just the time to run away before Uncle Thomas also seized them. Iris was so disappointed. Her only relative proved to be finally her enemy and all the grown-ups had a strange behavior as well as the kids who had eaten chocolate and who seemed deprived of any senses.

Guignol puppet could help them, but Iris realized that their only solution was to contact all the children and all the vegetables to create an army so as to fight Dark Guignol and save the City of Lights, la Ville des Lumières, their beloved Lyon that was so shining during the Festival of Lights and so delicious when you could smell so many flavors in the streets of the Old Lyon.
Mr Carrot was her first ally, but they had to react quickly since Mr Bean was now dead. They might be the next ones to die.
